Anyone interested in helping to develop the Transition Town concept for Laugharne please contact Charles at Castle Stores-3 Market St, Tel:01994 427616.
To find out more Transition Towns
This is a serious and recognised movement aimed at developing social and economic sustainability within communities-tackling the many problems we and future generations will face as Oil Peaks and Global warming affects us all. Lower Laugharne as we all know is flooded regularly at times- that is a problem and it is entirely possible that in 40 years time it will be under water more or less permanently.
Communities can take action- and Laugharne with its unique structure has every opportunity to respond to the challenges that face us all. It is a movement that is looking to get all in a community to work together to both reduce Carbon output-through better insulation and energy efficiency and develop economic sustainability within the Township.
A Transition Town can have access to significant grants to enable the measures to be put in place-it would not change the character of Laugharne, others have tried and failed that, it would simply enable us as a community to reduce our Carbon output in many ways and develop a local economy-remember Market Lane was called that for a reason.
As one part of the concept an allotment in Laugharne -supplying local food to the growers, with excess sold to the restaurants and shops.
Change can happen-we have seen that with the coalition at National Government level.Politics and Governance is going to change, Communities will be empowered- let's get on with it.
Anyone interested please contact me-or just pop in have a chat at Castle Stores if you want more information or to discuss. |

Pendine is only a five minute drive from Laugharne, and you can now drive onto the Beach again apparently, though here there is a charge, Great Beach. |

Hearing rumours that the killjoys are trying to block this years Celtic Blue Rock festival- why ? Lets hope like the attempt to block Pembrey, this will not happen. Let the kids have fun, we were all young once-something many seem to forget.
Life under the last Government had become intolerable-lets hope the new coalition will take a more enlightened view on life for the people. They seem to have grasped the idea we are people, not part of a Machine.
